Gas prices across the state continue to fall as the lowest average price ever recorded by the Governor’s Energy Office was announced yesterday.
The Energy Office began reporting weekly fuel prices in 2004.
Statewide the average price for heating oil hit $1.74 a gallon this week, while the average price of propane has dropped to $2.19 per gallon, according to The Portland Press Herald.
With the average price of kerosene dropping to $2.28 per gallon, the Energy Office estimates that Maine households that burn 900 gallons of oil over the harsh Maine winters will save $1,600 compared to the 2013-2014 season.
