Maine Machine lands military contract

Maine Machine Products in South Paris yesterday announced it has received a multimillion dollar contract from a Norwegian company to build components for a U.S. Army weapon station.

The company is acting as a subcontractor on the $1.4 billion contract signed last year by the U.S. military and Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, according to a press release from the company. MMP will create 80 precision parts for the Protector Remote Weapon Station, which will protect soldiers from enemy fire while engaging targets from the safety of a vehicle.

The company has hired 14 additional people to handle the work. MMP President David MacMohan would not disclose the actual size of the contract.
