Maine Medical Center

2022 Goals

Maine Medical Center provides the highest-level, most complex care that families in our state and region need, right here within reach. Although our mission has never changed, the healthcare landscape has. Demand for our services is at an all-time high. At this critical moment, we face challenges our founders never could have imagined.

That is why we launched The NEXT 150 Campaign. Our goal is to secure $150 million to modernize and expand our facilities, develop a strong healthcare workforce, and innovate for the next 150 years.

We will improve the experience for patients and families as we continue to fuel advancements and innovations in clinical care.

We will forge a brighter, more promising future for all of Maine by educating the clinicians it needs and solving its biggest health challenges.

And, we will strengthen our statewide healthcare system, giving each person the right care in the right setting at the right time.

The NEXT 150 Campaign is about the future of healthcare for our region. Its success depends on involvement from our community.

Fundraising Events / Opportunities

As a not-for-profit medical center, MMC relies on the generosity of our community — people who care about the health and wellbeing of family, friends, and neighbors. Individuals, corporations, and foundations have many options to designate tax-deductible gifts towards The NEXT 150 to help:

  • Improve access to life-saving care by transforming our aging facility to ensure we have enough private rooms and modern procedure spaces to accommodate patients without delay.
  • Support scholarships and other workforce initiatives to attract and educate outstanding physicians, nurses, and other health professionals so desperately needed in our region.
  • Give clinicians the necessary resources to pioneer better ways to provide the state-of-the-art care that is critical to Maine’s health and that advances the standard of care nationally.

Giving Opportunities

Gifts of any size will help us forge a healthier future in our region for the next 150 years.

  • Checks payable to “Maine Medical Center” can be mailed to MMC’s Philanthropy Department: 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, ME 04102. To designate your gift for a specific purpose, or in honor or memory of a loved one, please note that on the check’s memo line.
  • Credit cards are accepted securely online at www.mmc.org/givenext150.

We are happy to work with donors to achieve their philanthropic goals through a multi-year pledge, named giving opportunity, endowment, scholarship, estate plan, gifts of stock, or other creative ways to make an even greater impact. Please contact our Philanthropy team by emailing next150@mmc.org or calling 207-662-2669.

Volunteer Opportunities

Maine Medical Center volunteers provide helping hands and caring words to patients and family members throughout the hospital. Our dedicated volunteers extend and supplement the services provided by hospital staff. Many businesses have partnered with us during this critical time to provide meals for frontline caregivers and to staff vaccination clinics.

Maine Medical Center is fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers who serve on our Community Ambassador Council. An Ambassador’s primary role is to assist Maine Medical Center with the important task of community relations. From helping to inform and educate the public on health care programs and strategic priorities, to building relationships with potential partners and supporters, Ambassadors are essential in Maine Medical Center’s efforts to engage its community.
