Maine harvested the third-highest amount of fish in the nation last year, according to new fishery statistics.
The state’s fishermen harvested $287 million worth of seafood in Maine in 2008, bested only by Alaska and Massachusetts, according to the National Marine Fisheries Service’s annual statistics report released this week, the Associated Press reported.
Still, the state’s harvest was down 17% from $348 million in 2007, due to declining values for lobster.
