The Maine Revenue Services plans to close its office in Houlton, a move the agency says will leave 11 jobless and save $900,000 over the two-year budget cycle, according to The Associated Press.
Sawin Millett, the state’s financial services commissioner, made the decision Thursday to close that office and move its work to a staff of five that will be based in Augusta.
Jennifer Smith, a spokeswoman for Millett, told the paper that the lease was up on the Maine Revenue Service building this year, which is the reason for the timing of the decision.
