Maine Seacoast Mission

2022 Goals

As it has for over 100 years, the Maine Seacoast Mission addresses pressing needs of our coastal and island communities. Our focus areas include:

  • Covid-19 response – continuing to provide resources to those impacted by the pandemic.
  • Food security – offering nourishment and nutritional information to strengthen families and communities.
  • Telehealth – enhancing our long-standing services to Maine’s unbridged island residents.
  • Education – providing youth development opportunities and scholarships.

Fundraising Events / Opportunities

The Mission provides several opportunities to provide financial support which benefits the communities we serve:

  • Sunbeam Award Gala – Our signature fundraising event where we honor organizations and individuals that have made a difference for good in our communities. Past recipients include Ashley Bryan, the Maine Community Foundation, and Senator George J. Mitchell. A heartfelt evening!
  • President’s Scholarship Celebration – An inspiring event to recognize students in our scholarship programs and to honor those who advocate for and support educational opportunities for young adults.
  • EdGE Open Tennis Tournament – Our tournament raises funds for Ed Greaves Education (EdGE), the Mission’s youth development program serving Downeast coastal Maine. A day of exciting, competitive matches.

Giving Opportunities

  • The Mission Fund – gifts and grants provide operating or project support for programs.
  • The Hope Society – create a legacy through a planned gift such as a bequest.
  • Yearlong or individual event sponsorship – sponsor all three of our major events or choose the event that best fits your corporate objectives.
  • Christmas Program – provide one or many gifts for the children and families we serve in our coastal and island communities.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Downeast: Christmas Program, housing rehabilitation summer volunteers, community meal preparation at Cherryfield campus, food deliveries to seniors, summer youth camps, mentoring high school students in the Journey program.
