Starting Tuesday, the new Maine Tax Portal can be used to pay and file for 20 Maine taxes, fees and programs, including individual income taxes.
The portal, which is being rolled out in phases and had already been open to 140,000 businesses, replaces and expands current online services, including I-File and EZ Pay for business owners, tax professionals and individual taxpayers.
“The Maine Tax Portal significantly expands online functionality making it faster, easier, and more convenient for taxpayers to file, pay, and manage their Maine taxes,” said Kirsten Figueroa, commissioner of the Maine Department of Administrative and Financial Services.
“We encourage all impacted taxpayers and tax professionals to visit the MRS website to learn how easy it is to use the new system,” Figueroa said.
The rollout, scheduled to be complete by the end of this year, does not affect individual income taxpayers who use third-party, self-service software to prepare and file taxes. However, the new portal aims to make it easier to manage payment arrangements, check on refunds, view bills and notices and manage accounts online.
