Maine to see large settlement check

The state attorney general’s office expects Maine to receive $829,862 as part of a multistate settlement with drug maker Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.

According to the Associated Press, the company will pay $389 million to 43 states, the District of Columbia and the federal government after being accused of illegal marketing of drugs and Medicare fraud. Bristol-Myers will not face criminal charges.

Maine’s share will go to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
