The Maine Community Foundation yesterday said it has granted $1 million to the Washington County Fund to support nonprofit endowments.
The grant will bring the assets of the Washington County Fund to $1.6 million and help the committee that oversees that fund apply for additional grants, according to a press release from the foundation.
The Washington County Committee, which oversees the fund, was one of the first county committees established by MaineCF in 1986. The committee has given more than $375,000 in grants to 120 nonprofits in the county.
