MaineGeneral

MaineGeneral’s mission is to enhance, every day, the health of our patients, our families and our communities. Employees are incorporated into every facet of this mission through transparency, inclusion in decision-making, and a focus on areas where employees can make daily impacts on the service they provide to patients.

Community engagement: Health care is personal and experiential — the COVID-19 pandemic has shown just how much. Those who are driven to work in a health care system — whether on the front lines providing direct patient care in the hospital or long-term care facility, in a physician practice or a patient’s home, in back offices reviewing quality outcomes or finances, or serving in housekeeping or food and nutrition, every single person in our system makes a difference. MaineGeneral’s policies and procedures are aligned to create a culture of excellence where every employee can and does contribute to something special — taking care of our own. We recognize that we are taking care of our family, friends, neighbors and community. We work as a team to deliver the best health care close to home because it matters to those we love. We are proud to positively impact the health of our community each day through our quality services and community involvement.

Years at company: 3

Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

I’ve worked at MaineGeneral for about three years now. I love the fact that you can grow within the company. I started in the cafeteria in a per diem role and transitioned into the CNA Earn to Learn program, and now I’m a CNA at the Glenridge long-term care facility. It’s been the best experience learning about compassion and caring for people. And thanks to this role, I’ve been able to get ahead in life financially, and also discover that I’d like to explore nursing down the road. Joining MaineGeneral has been the best choice I’ve made.
