MaineGeneral Health is eliminating 11 positions from Augusta to Waterville, due to rising labor costs and low patient occupancy.
Scott Bullock, president of the health care provider, made an announcement Monday to the organization’s employees that said MaineGeneral Health would be cutting 11 positions, as well as reducing the use of temporary employees and overtime, and suspending earned-time benefits for one pay period for all employees, the Kennebec Journal reported. In the memo, he cited budget overruns and low occupancy at the organization’s long-term health care facilities in Augusta and Gardiner.
MaineGeneral employs 3,773 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, with campuses in Augusta and Waterville, the Seton specialty hospital in Waterville, and the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta, according to the paper.
