Mainers told a legislative panel in Bangor Thursday night that U.S. free trade policies are hurting business in the state.
Members of the Legislature’s Citizen Trade Policy Commission heard from people gathered at Husson University about how international trade agreements have led to mill closures and hardships for local businesses, according to the Bangor Daily News. Among the topics of discussion was a bill co-sponsored by Congressman Mike Michaud that would require the government to reexamine existing trade pacts and take new approaches to U.S. trade policy.
