Architecture remains a male-dominated field, but here in Maine, women are breaking through the glass ceiling as leaders and talented up-and-coming architects. Among the pioneers is SMRT Architects and Engineers in Portland, Maine’s only large architectural firm led by a woman. which has been led by Ellen Belknap since 2004.
