The plunge in the average statewide price for a gallon of gasoline outpaced the national average last week, as a combination of high crude oil inventories and low crude oil prices have left Mainers with a bit more change in their pockets.
Last week, the average price for a gallon of gasoline fell 6 cents, down 47 cents from a year ago to $1.79 in Maine, while the national average currently sits at $1.69 per gallon, down 4 cents, according to a report by GasBuddy.
Maine is currently one of 45 states with an average gas price below $2 per gallon, with our neighbors in New Hampshire paying $1.71 per gallon on average.
