Safe Handling Inc., in Auburn, yesterday opened Maine’s first ethanol distribution center.
Safe Handling, which specializes in warehousing and transportation, says it opened the terminal to meet businesses’ growing demand for the fuel, which is less harmful to the environment than traditional fuel, according to a press release.
The company will sell the ethanol to gasoline wholesalers, who will then sell a blend for use in cars and trucks, according to Portland news station WCSH6.
