Maine jumped two spots to 46th place in Forbes magazine’s annual ranking “The Best States for Business.”
The magazine evaluates states in several categories, including business costs, regulatory environment and economic climate. Maine’s quality of life scored highest among the categories, ranking 19th best in the country, while its ranking for business costs and regulatory environment came in as 44th and 32nd, respectively.
Virginia came in first overall, a position it has held since Forbes began the ranking in 2006, followed by Utah and Washington.
