🔒Martin’s Point expansion will put headquarters’ staff under one roof

The large construction project looming over Casco Bay where the U.S. Route 1 bridge connects Portland with Falmouth is a 100,000-square-foot corporate office building for Martin’s Point Health Care, which has its headquarters at the site. Burlington, Vt.-based PC Construction, which has a Portland office, is the contractor. Portland-based SMRT Architects and Engineers designed the building, while Sebago Technics of South Portland handled engineering-related site work. Steve Amendo, chief marketing officer for Martin’s Point, told Mainebiz the building will consolidate administrative functions currently spread across multiple locations throughout greater Portland. It will also provide the flexible workspaces increasingly incorporated into modern office buildings.

Employees engaged in both team-based and individual work, will have access to collaboration areas and huddle spaces, along with traditional workstations. Lounges, a café and conference rooms will also be included in the building. “The investment is designed to meet the needs of the evolving workforce, both now and in the future,” Amendo said. Completion is expected by early summer 2027.

Martin’s Point is nonprofit health care provider with five locations for outpatient care in Maine and a sixth in Portsmouth, N.H. The company has just over 1,000 employees. In addition, Martin's Point offers Medicare Advantage plans in Maine, though patients who visit the outpatient centers do not need to be signed up for a Martin’s Point plan. The company administers the U.S. Family Health Plan too, which covers family members of active-duty military personnel and military retirees — in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Upstate New York, and parts of Pennsylvania and Ohio.
