We hear a lot about “makers” these days and it typically means furniture makers, boat builders, crafts people.
This year’s Business Leaders of the Year are also makers, but the scale is bit larger. They’re building hospitals and veterans’ homes, a manufacturing business and, in another sense, rebuilding a downtown economy.
One note: This year we honor leaders from two nonprofits, which combined are investing more than $600 million in health care and senior housing, addressing pressing needs in Maine.
The profiles of Joyce Galea, large company leader; Bill Mitchell, small company leader; Richard W. Petersen and William L. Caron Jr., large nonprofit leaders; and Kelley Kash, small nonprofit leader, start on Page 20.
And please join us in honoring this year’s Business Leaders of the Year at a reception on April 25, from 5-7 p.m., at the Portland Country Club in Falmouth.
