The city of Bath and the town of West Bath have been awarded a $1.7 million federal grant to expand the Wing Farm Business Park.
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration grant will be matched with already acquired local funding to add 14 new lots to the park, according to a press release from U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree’s office. The commerce department estimates that the expansion project will leverage more than $26 million in private investment and create 300 jobs.
U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe said in a joint statement announcing the grant that they “will continue to support initiatives that help to mitigate the negative economic consequences of the closure of the Brunswick Naval Air Station.”
