Millinocket Town Manager Peggy Daigle is seeking to place tax liens on properties owned by Cate Street Capital LLC and Specialty Minerals Inc.
The Bangor Daily News reported Daigle will ask the Town Council to vote on the move Thursday in order to begin collecting on a $450,000 property tax bill the company owes. Cate Street is the parent of Thermogen Industries, which plans to produce torrefied wood pellets at its Millinocket site, and Great Northern Paper Co. in East Millinocket.
The company has delayed construction on the Thermogen project twice and last month applied for a $30 million bond from the Finance Authority of Maine to build its first torrefied wood unit in East Millinocket.
