Brunswick’s Wild Oats Bakery, owned by David and Becky Shepherd, was selected as the Maine Merchants Association’s 2012 Retailer of the Year.
The award given by the nonprofit trade association judges businesses on: continued growth in employees or sales, commitment of company resources to community projects, and creation of a positive work environment for all employees.
In its announcement of the award, which has been given out since 1980, the MMA cited the bakery’s use of local ingredients and community involvement as reasons for Wild Oats taking this year’s title.
