A utility in Montana today said it has purchased Bangor-based Penobscot Natural Gas Co. Inc.
Energy West Inc., a company in Great Falls, Mont., that distributes and sells natural gas to about 35,000 customers in small, regional markets, today closed on the $226,000 deal for Penobscot Natural Gas Co., which is the parent company of Bangor Gas Co. LLC.
David Cerotzke, vice chair of Energy West’s board of directors, told Mainebiz the company purchased Bangor Gas because of opportunity in the Bangor region. Only one percent of potential customers in the area use natural gas, he said.
