Topsham-based Priority Real Estate Group is close to clearing another hurdle in its proposal to convert South Portland’s former National Guard armory into a multi-use development that contains a gas station, cafe, office space, among other things.
The Portland Press Herald reported that Priority Group’s $2.5 million project received praise from city officials during a city council workshop last week. The developer’s zoning change request for the lot on Broadway has already been approved by the city’s planning board and heads to a city council vote on May 4.
Once the zoning change is approved, the developer would need to submit a site plan for review by the city’s planning board. The development’s proposal also calls for a convenience store, a community meeting space and a tourist information bureau.
