Naples trucking company shuts down

A trucking company in Naples closed its doors this weekend after nearly 30 years in business.

Kenton Varney, co-owner of Sebago Pacific Trucking, announced the closure effective immediately on Saturday, attributing it to high operational costs, the recession and increased competition, according to news channel WCSH 6. Varney said he hoped to offer severance packages if he could liquidate some of the company’s equipment. A skeleton crew will fulfill freight deliveries already committed.

Varney told Mainebiz 18 full-time and two part-time workers are affected.

The company specialized in transporting steel, building materials and machinery on the East Coast, according to its website.
