Maine has received $3.8 million in federal grant funding to modernize and develop public housing.
The funds, distributed through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Capital Funding Program, will support 20 housing programs throughout the state, according to a press release from U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins.
The top three grant recipients are Portland Housing Authority, $1.8 million; Bangor Housing Authority, $1.1 million; and Lewiston Housing Authority, $650,000.
