This week’s start of baseball season in Maine also marks the first pitch of a new beer offering at the home of the Portland Sea Dogs.
Hadlock Lager, named for the ballpark, is a collaboration between the minor-league team and Bissell Brothers, a Portland-based craft brewer that has been a vendor at the ballpark for years. The team, owned by Diamond Baseball Holdings, is the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
Hadlock Lager, in pinstriped blue cans that resemble baseball uniforms, will be available at all events at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field, including Sea Dogs games, a University of Maine baseball game on April 29, Banana Ball in late July and other special events, according to Chris Cameron, vice president for communications and fan experience for the Sea Dogs.
“Hadlock Lager is everything you want in a ballpark beer — refreshing, approachable and crafted with care,” said Jesse Scaglion, the team's general manager.
“Partnering with Bissell Brothers, a brewery that shares such strong roots in our community, makes this launch even more special for our fans,” he added.
