Waynflete, a private school in Portland, hired Sarah Plimpton as director of development. Plimpton was previously a vice president at CCS, a fundraising consulting firm.
Maine Savings, a credit union in Hampden, hired Marcel Blais as its chief retail officer. Blais was most recently senior vice president and chief operations officer of the Community Banking Division at Northeast Bank.
Care & Comfort, a provider of home health services and mental health care in Waterville, hired Michael Stair as chief operating officer. Previously, Stair was with Seniors Plus/Elder Independence of Maine.

Penobscot Community Health Care in Bangor hired Lisa Bergmark as a physician assistant at its Brewer School Based Health Centers located at the Brewer High School and the Brewer Community School.

Sterling Rope Co. Inc. in Biddeford hired Catherine Shaps as planner and inventory control manager, Steven Rodriguez as a customer service representative, Chuck Weber as a process engineer and Sara Fleetwood as a product development engineer in the research and development department. Shaps was previously a purchaser and inventory specialist at Plow & Hearth, Rodriguez was an associate with Eastern Mountain Sports, Weber was with PMI and New England Ropes while Fleetwood is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech.
The State of Maine Department of Corrections hired Randall Liberty as warden of the Maine State Prison. Liberty was previously sheriff of Kennebec County overseeing the operations of the Kennebec County Correctional Facility.
The city of Portland hired Art Howe as housing safety administrator overseeing the city's new Housing Safety Office. Howe was president of Howe Safety Services.
University College, an administrative unit of the University of Maine at Augusta, hired Mark Tardif as director of communication, marketing and production services. Tardif was previously associate director of media relations at Unity College.
The Ellsworth American and Mount Desert Islander weekly newspapers hired Scott Kimball as advertising director. Kimball was previously with Dead River Co.
The Portland Chapter of SCORE, a business resource and mentoring organization, hired Marge Barker as a certified SCORE volunteer mentor.
PeoplesChoice Credit Union in Saco hired Jessica Pulk as collections- and asset-management manager. She was previously a repossession and liquidation specialist with TD Bank in Falmouth.
Promotions
The VIA Agency, a marketing, advertising and digital agency in Portland, promoted Leeann Leahy to CEO. Leahy, who was president, succeeds John Coleman, who has served as CEO since founding the agency in 1993. Coleman will assume the role of chairman of the firm.
Baker Newman Noyes, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, announced the election of Carl Chatto to managing principal effective Jan. 1, 2016, and announced the election of Jeffrey Wheeler to succeed Chatto as director of audit, also effective Jan. 1. Chatto is currently a principal and director of audit while Wheeler is audit principal in the firm's Manchester office.

The Maine Municipal Association in Augusta promoted Stephen Gove to executive director. Gove previously served as deputy executive director and director of the Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust insurance division.

United Way of Eastern Maine in Bangor announced Elizabeth Sutherland and Ric Tyler were appointed as 2015 campaign co-chairs. Sutherland is a principal at Sutherland Weston Marketing Communications Tyler is a media professional with Blueberry Broadcasting.
Avesta Housing, a nonprofit affordable housing provider in Portland, added Carol Fortier and Jonathan Culley to its board of directors. Fortier is a community advocate while Culley is with Redfern Properties in Portland.
United Way of Androscoggin County in Lewiston announced Agustin Mojica, Norm Beauparlant and Denis D'Auteuil joined its board of directors. Mojica is with Procter & Gamble - Tambrands, Beauparlant with the city of Lewiston and D'Auteuil with the city of Auburn.
The Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor added Abbe Levin, Margo Lukens, Patti Selig and Chris Sockalexis as trustees to its board of directors. The New York Academy of Medicine awarded the 2015 Lewis Rudin Glaucoma Prize, recognizing the contributions of physicians and scientists working on the challenges of glaucoma, to Krishnakumar Kizhatil, an associate research scientist at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor.

The University of Maine at Farmington was recognized as the top Maine college in Washington Monthly's “2015 Best Bang for the Buck” rankings. The college was listed No. 14 in “The Other College Guide: A Roadmap for the Right School for You.”
