New hires
Northern Light Surgery in Bangor hired Matthew Sharbaugh. Sharbaugh specializes in advanced gastrointestinal surgery and robotic abdominal wall reconstruction, which includes advanced and complex hernia repair.
Norway Savings Bank hired Brian Desjardins as regional vice president, commercial lending based out of the bank’s Windham branch. Desjardins has 15 years of banking experience.
Katahdin Trust Co. in Houlton hired Justin Jamison as vice president, commercial services officer. Jamison was previously vice president, commercial relationship manager for People’s United Bank.
Hope for Women, a nonprofit in Rockland that provides support to people affected by domestic violence, dating violence and stalking, hired Joan LeMole as development director. LeMole spent the previous 19 years as a mental health clinician and five years as a nonprofit executive director.
The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association in Maine hired Lena Minervino as development director responsible for the Southern Maine Heart Walk and Central Maine Heart Walk. Minervino was previously development director at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Northern New England.
OTLECO, a wireline telecommunications company in New Gloucester, hired Patrick Bellis as a technical support technician in Bangor. Bellis was previously a wireless networking equipment technician at DemarcTech.
Promotions
Educate Maine in Portland promoted Angela Oechslie to Project>Login program director. Oechslie was previously the project’s program coordinator.
Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, promoted Melissa Lizotte to human resources project manager in its human resources department and Matt Boucher to director of registration within the registration department. Lizotte most recently was human resources coordinator while Boucher was registration team manager.
Appointments
Timothy Baum and Robin Noble were elected to InterMed’s board of directors. Baum, an internist, is one of the company’s founding members while Noble, a gynecologist in the women’s health department, joined the company in 2001.
Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a law firm in Auburn, said shareholder Jim Pross was appointed to the city of Auburn’s Ethics Panel by the Mayor of Auburn, Jason Levesque. The panel is authorized to review matters relating to conflicts of interest and the incompatibility of employment positions and issue advisory opinions. Pross’ practice areas with the firm include real estate, landlord/tenant, municipal and government law, social security disability and employment law.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland announced its board of director officers. Julie Ray, Perkins Thompson, is board president; Lex Meagher, Kennebunk Savings Bank, vice president; Jeremy Handlon, Marcum LLP, treasurer; and Christine Hume, Kennebunk Savings Bank, secretary.
Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, announced that attorney Allen Kropp was appointed to the State Rehabilitation Council for the Blind and Visually Impaired by Gov. Janet Mills. Allen has extensive expertise in civil rights compliance, program administration and educating schools, colleges, and other stakeholders on disability and other civil rights matters.
Ryan Kanteres, partner and principal at Scott Simons Architects in Portland, joined the passivhausMaine board of directors. The nonprofit works across local, national and global efforts to support the passive house industry and community.
Achievements
The Maine Insurance Agents Association Young Insurance Agents announced its annual award winners. Shae-Li Fendler, MEMIC, was named the “2019 Young Agent Committee Member of the Year;” Ashley Rosborough, J.T. Rosborough Inc., “2019 Young Insurance Professional of the Year;” and MMG Insurance the “2019 Company of the Year.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick named Eric London its “Big of the Year,” Crooker Construction its “President’s Award” winner, Burgess Technology Services its “Impact Award” recipient, Perk Ramsay its “The Perk Ramsay Acts of Service Award” winner and Thomas Stevens, Bath Iron Works, its “Leadership Award” winner.
Finance Authority of Maine presented Camden National Bank and Bar Harbor Bank & Trust with its “Lender at Work for Maine” award. The award category is reserved for lenders with assets of $1.5 billion.
Freedom Boat Club of Maine in Yarmouth earned the “Pacesetter Award” at the National Franchise Conference for exceeding financial benchmarks, including minimum revenue increase of 30% year-over-year above $150,000. The club’s Marketing Director, Tracy Coughlin, was also recognized as the “Marketing National Brand Champion.”
Educate Maine named Cianbro its “2019 Weston L. Bonney Education Leadership Award” winner at its annual education symposium. The honors an individual, group, organization or Maine business that demonstrates leadership, commitment and vision in ensuring that all Maine students have the opportunity to succeed.
The Alliance for American Manufacturing listed Fletchers’ Mill, a family-owned company in New Vineyard that crafts wooden cooking tools from raw lumber, as its Maine selection in its 2019 Made in America Holiday Gift Guide.
RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland said John Robinson was recognized as the No. 2 individual commercial RE/MAX agent in New England year-to-date for 2019 and Tom Ranello was the No. 1 individual RE/MAX agent in Maine for October 2019.
Camden National Bank said it was one of six U.S. banks named a “2019 Greenwich Customer Experience Leader” by Greenwich Associates, a global provider of data, analytics and insights to the financial services industry. The bank, the only New England-based bank on this year’s list, was one of five banks recognized specifically in the U.S. Retail Banking category.
Greenville Fire Department was recognized with a Maine Department of Labor’s Safety and Health Award for Public Employers.
