The Damariscotta-based nonprofit Stepping Stone Housing Inc. is developing a recently acquired property in Bristol to be used for temporary housing.
The Lincoln County News reported that the nonprofit organization replaced a mobile home on the property and may build additional housing units if it receives numerous applications to live there. Stepping Stone is currently searching for a tenant for the temporary, affordable housing unit.
The organization was recently gifted the 4.96-acre parcel on Route 130 in Bristol, according to the paper.
In 2014, Stepping Stone began developing a property in Damariscotta for temporary housing. The original plan called for a six-unit apartment building, but the organization scaled back its plan after facing resistance from neighbors. All five cottages on the property are currently occupied, according to the Lincoln County News.
