Northeast Bank is building a new branch, at 235 Western Ave. in Augusta, after demolishing the branch formerly located on the site.
H.E. Callahan Construction, based in Auburn, is handling the demolition and the rebuild. NES Group, headquartered in Mansfield, Mass., is managing the project, with design from Studio S Architecture, of Charlotte, N.C.
Demolition of the previous banking center is underway. The new building 2,300-square-foot is scheduled to open in spring 2027.
During construction, the staff at the former Augusta branch has relocated to a modular banking facility located on-site, and will continue to provide regular business hours.

“The new facility will offer an improved layout, enhanced accessibility, and updated technology to make everyday transactions quicker and more convenient,” said Robert T. Banaski, chief retail banking officer.
Northeast Bank (Nasdaq: NBN) ranks No. 3 among Maine-based banks, with assets of $4.28 billion, according to Mainebiz’s 2026 Book of Lists. It is based in Lewiston.
