Darci Hamm, who had been chief operating officer and executive vice president, was named president, effective immediately, the bank said in a news release.

Hamm takes over one of the roles held by Walsh, who plans to retire as CEO  at the end of 2027. Walsh, who had been president since 2020, will remain on the board of directors after his retirement. He took over as president and CEO after the retirement of CEO Patricia Weigel, who now chairs the bank’s board of directors.

“For decades, Darci has served as a leader, a respected team member and a steward of growth and advancement at NSB. Her knowledge, experience and genuine affinity for the bank were clear during our months-long search process,” Weigel said in a news release.

“Darci personifies the bank’s high achievement and support culture,” Weigel added. “She is a true team player, leading with integrity, humility and purpose. The positive impact Darci has on those she encounters is beyond measure.”

She started at Norway Savings in 1999 as an in-store banking administrator. She spent much of her career there in retail banking.

In 2023, she was named chief operating officer, tasked with leading the bank’s enterprise strategy, planning and execution across asset management, commercial lending, retail banking, cash management, customer care, marketing and deposit and loan operations.

“When I walked into the Norway Branch in 1999 as a new member of the NSB team, I never imagined that one day I would have the honor of being named president of our bank,” said Hamm. “As I assume my new role, I do so with deep gratitude and appreciation for the people who make this organization so meaningful.”

Hamm serves on the board of hoMEworks and has served as an advisor and volunteer at Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute and Junior Achievement of Maine.
