Norway’s minister of health-and-care services and a team of delegates visited Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick this week to explore the adoption of a new nurse practitioner program in their country.
Mid Coast Hospital on Thursday said that Bent Høie, Norway’s health minister, and other Norwegian health officials were there to learn about the role of the nurse practitioner, which will help inform the country as it plans its own program for nurse practitioners. The hospital said the nurse practitioner has become a significant role in health care.
Patsy Cyr, who developed Mid Coast Medical Group’s wound-and-ostomy care practice, said in a statement that “assisting the country of Norway with establishing educational opportunities and roles for nurse practitioners within their health care system will contribute to greater efficiencies and lower costs for the people of Norway.”
