The Nova Scotia government is giving companies more time to submit bids on a contract to restart ferry service between Portland and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Canada’s CTV reported the deadline for submitting bids has been pushed to July 4.
Up for grabs is a $21 million, seven-year subsidy commitment from the provincial government, which hopes restarting the service will boost the tourism industry there.
Two companies with Maine offices bid on the contract early this year, but provincial officials decided to reopen the bidding in April after reviewing the proposals from Eliot-based Quest Navigation and Baltimore-based Maritime Applied Physics Corp.
