The nurses union at Eastern Maine Medical Center today will complete a vote on the hospital’s final contract offer.
The 870 nurses in Bangor represented by the Maine State Nursing Association began voting yesterday and will continue today, with the results released tonight, according to the Bangor Daily News.
The nurses on Monday announced a 10-day strike notice, but withdrew the notice on Tuesday after entering an emergency bargaining session with a federal mediator. The nurses want input in the structure of a “professional practice committee” that would monitor staffing levels and other workplace issues, the paper said.
