A Hermon businessman stands accused of stealing more than $40,000 in heating oil.
Lewis Pearson, the owner of L.A. Pearson Heating Oil, faces a felony theft charge after allegedly taking heating oil from a Brewer oil distribution facility and charging the fill-ups to other commercial oil accounts, according to the Bangor Daily News. Pearson allegedly used account codes of other companies so they would be billed for the fill-ups instead of him, according to the paper, then delivered the oil to his own customers. Police are investigating Pearson in similar thefts from Bangor oil distribution facilities.
