Omnibus energy bill expected to clear committee

A legislative committee is expected to vote today on a wide-ranging energy bill that aims to balance partisan priorities of reducing energy costs and energy efficiency investments.

The Portland Press Herald reported that the compromise omnibus energy bill has strong backing from a majority of members on the Energy, Technology and Utilities Committee following several work sessions in recent weeks.

Gov. Paul LePage’s energy director, Patrick Woodcock, says the governor’s office is not satisfied with elements of the bill.
