Another brewery is on its way to downtown Bangor, as Orono Brewing Co. co-owners Abe and Heather Furth and Mark Horton unveiled their plans for a tasting room and small-batch test brewery at 26 State St. in the city’s downtown.
The new Orono Brewing location will be on the ground floor of a newly renovated four-story building that the Furths purchased in September 2015. The upper three floors of the building have been converted into three loft-style apartments, according to the Bangor Daily News.
Orono Brewing’s brewmaster, Asa Marsh-Sachs, told the BDN that he’s looking forward to being able to experiment in the new location’s test brewery, brewing barrel-aged beers that can take anywhere from six months to three years to be finished.
“It’s going to be an opportunity for me to play around a bit again,” Asa Marsh-Sachs told the BDN.
The loft-style apartments above the brewery and tasting room will be available starting in mid-May, while the brewery is expected to open its doors in July.
