Paper machine back online

A three-week shutdown of No. 11 paper machine at Wausau Paper Mill in Jay is over, clearing the way for 100 employees to return to work.

The Sun Journal reported that the machine was restarted Monday after being idled because of excess inventory and weak market demand. A second machine was shut down permanently in mid-December, putting 150 people out of work. A mill manager said those workers are eligible for federal trade adjustment assistance and many have begun retraining.
