Maine Strong Balance Centers has opened its fourth clinic in southern Maine, at 202 Larrabee Road in Westbrook.
The practice offers rehabilitation therapy for neurologic, geriatric and vestibular physical and occupational therapy.
“We help people tackle everyday challenges,” said founder and president Jason Adour.
The company first opened at 400 Enterprise Drive in Scarborough in 2017 and later expanded into South Portland and Saco.
The new 2,500-square-foot Westbrook location, next door to Empeople Credit Union, felt like an opportunity to fill a need, Adour said.
“We provide balance rehabilitation and fall risk reduction for older adults,” he said. “Westbrook has a population of about 21,000 residents and 18.1% of them are age 65 or older.
“Each year, about one in three older adults experiences a fall — and our goal is to interrupt that cycle through targeted balance rehabilitation,” he added.
“We also provide neurologic rehabilitation. Depending on how broadly you define neurologic conditions, somewhere between one in six and one in three people in Westbrook are living with a neurologic diagnosis, which comes with symptoms that affect balance, walking, movement or function.”
Adour said the landlord helped with fitting up the space, “for example, converting the former bank vault into three private treatment rooms and a staff office.”

The space had been fully occupied by the credit union, which downsized in the space next door.
Boulos Co. broker Samantha Marinko found the new location for the practice.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with Sam for sometime and she was able to fairly quickly connect us with this space that suits us,” Adour said.
Maine Strong Balance Center has 31 therapists across all care centers, plus eight administrative staff. The Westbrook facility is starting with three therapists and one receptionist.
A ribbon cutting is planned for Thursday, April 30, at 3 p.m.
