Trendy home goods and furnishings store Pier 1 Imports is returning to the Portland area with a store in the Maine Mall this fall, according to the Portland Press Herald.
The store, which was formerly located off of Forest Avenue until it closed in 2005, also has a location in Augusta. The Maine Mall store is expected to open in about four months.
Chrissy Madison, a spokeswoman for the Texas-based company, told the newspaper that Pier 1 decided to open the new store as part of a routine review of new and existing markets.
The company posted an online job opening for a store manager recently, the paper noted, but Madison did not say how many people the store expects to hire. That posting said the store would open in September.
