Seven in 10 Mainers support commissioning a study to identify ways to restructure the state’s government and reduce spending, according to a poll released yesterday by Market Decisions.
The Portland-based polling firm surveyed 400 randomly selected Mainers by phone and found that more Mainers recommend that the state explore ways to restructure than curb spending to balance the current budget deficit. Six in 10 Mainers recommend the state consolidate or cut spending to balance the budget, while eight in 10 oppose increasing taxes temporarily, according to the report.
