The Emporium, a nationally recognized retail store selling ceramic figures, crystal and collectibles in Kennebunkport, is closing after more than 30 years of business.
The York County Coast Star reported that the store is closing after owner Jennifer Lanigan decided to focus on her family. Her husband, Mat Lanigan, the store’s founder and original owner, died in November 2012 from brain surgery complications.
The Emporium has been recognized as a top retailer by Swarovski, an Austrian luxury crystal producer, and M.I. Hummel, a German porcelain company.
