The Island Times, a 10-year-old monthly newspaper covering Peaks Island and others in Casco Bay, has stopped publication.
The Forecaster reported that shrinking ad revenue was the final blow for the paper that typically circulated 3,000 copies during off-seasons and 5,000 during the summer.
The paper was produced by volunteers with ad revenue supporting printing costs and other operating expenses.
The closure comes after another community paper in the area, Portland’s West End News, stopped its print publication last year citing declining ad revenues.
