The Maine Office of Tourism has awarded Swardlick Marketing Group in Portland the state’s advertising contract.
Swardlick was one of 13 agencies from around the country that responded to a state request for proposals in July, according to a press release from the Maine Office of Tourism. New York-based Warren Kremer Paino previously held the state’s advertising contract. That advertising agency in 2006 had a highly publicized spat over criticism of the ad agency with Searsmont blogger Lance Dutson. Patricia Eltman, who took over the tourism office as its new director last year, told Mainebiz last summer she called in that contract before it was up.
Swardlick’s one-year advertising contract is worth an estimated $3.6 million and begins Nov. 1.
