William Kayatta, a partner at Pierce Atwood LLP, was confirmed Wednesday by the U.S. Senate for a federal judgeship in the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals.
The 88-12 vote comes nearly a year after Kayatta was nominated by President Barack Obama to fill the court’s vacancy, Maine Today Media reported.
The 1st Circuit is the smallest circuit court in the country, with six full-time judges, and is Maine’s last court of appeals before the U.S. Supreme Court.
