Mainers in job-hunting mode may want to check out a one-day hiring fair being organized by the city of Portland’s recreation division this week.
The event, scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. at 212 Canco Road, will include on-the-spot interviews and hands-on assistance for those ready to submit an application online during the event.
The city has immediate openings for child care site staff to provide coverage before and after the bell, recreation community center attendants, and soccer and basketball referees.
Portland is also looking to hire a driver for programs for people age 62 and older and for aquatics positions.
“Our hope with this pop-up event is that interested applicants will benefit from meeting our staff in person, learning more about the positions and our benefits, as well as the opportunity to apply in person during the event,” said Jessica Grondin, a spokeswoman for the city.
