A Portland venture capital firm is investing $4 million in a Pittsburgh-based provider of search software to help it reach a global market.
North Atlantic Capital, an expansion-stage VC firm that focuses on technology and communications companies, and includes Westbrook’s Idexx Laboratories in its investment portfolio, is investing in Vivisimo, a spinoff of Carnegie Mellon University’s Computer Science Department founded in 2000, according to a press release.
North Atlantic Capital was established in 1986 and manages more than $200 million in capital. The firm is currently investing its fourth fund, which it closed last year.
