Portland’s open call for ABC reality TV series “Shark Tank” will be July 29 at the Italian Heritage Center, where up to 500 entrepreneurs will have a chance to pitch their business idea.
The date and location for “Shark Tank’s” Portland casting call was posted on www.sharktankopencall.com, where applicants can get details on how to apply.
The website says it will accept the first 500 applicants and that applicants must have their applications fully completed before giving a 1-minute pitch to the TV show’s casting crew. The casting crew will begin distributing wristbands at 9 a.m. and interviews will begin at 10.
“Shark Tank,” which premiered in 2009, is a weekly series that gives entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their business or product idea to a panel of “shark” investors, including real estate magnate Barbara Corcoran; Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, Magnolia Pictures and Landmark Theatres; and Daymond John, founder and president of clothing company FUBU.
Last week, Portland Media Group announced its own TV show for Maine entrepreneurs called “Greenlight Maine,” which is being described as a “kinder, gentler ‘Shark Tank.’” The local show, which will air on WCSH6 and WLBZ2, is accepting applications until midnight on Saturday.
