The Greater Portland Board of Realtors and stakeholders and community leaders cut the ribbon to mark the opening and completion of a shade pavilion at Lavoie Pump Track at 141 Weeks Road in Gorham.
The board donated over $16,500 to the town for construction of the project. The funds included a $7,500 placemaking grant from the National Association of Realtors and matching contributions totaling $9,000 from local Realtors. All together, 11 companies and four individuals contributed to the project.
The following companies, many with offices in Gorham, were among the sponsors: Cates Real Estate, Century 21 First Choice Realty, Demetria Real Estate, Dream Home Realty, Elevate Maine Realty, King + Miller Real Estate, Maine Real Estate Experts, Plowman Realty Group, PoGo Realty, the Maine Real Estate Group and Willis Real Estate.
A pump track is a bicycle course with built-in rollers, or bumps.
“Facilities like this pavilion make it possible for kids, families, and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages to spend more time enjoying the incredible recreational assets our community has built,” said Cindy Hazelton, the town’s director of parks and recreation. “Projects like the pump track and trail system are the result of years of volunteer effort and community support, and partnerships like this help ensure those spaces remain welcoming and accessible.”
