Recall affects L.L.Bean

The federal Consumer Product Safety Commission yesterday announced a voluntary recall of a product made in China for Freeport retailer L.L.Bean.

The product is a car charging unit that was included in air mattresses L.L.Bean sold in its stores nationwide and through its catalog from June 2007 through August 2007. The importer of the car charging unit, The Wenzel Co., in St. Louis, has received one report of the batteries in the car charging unit overheating when the car engine is running, causing the charging unit to burst, according to a press release.
